About Phoenix:
At the young age of 8, whilst the other children in his class were reading “The Hobbit”,
young Phoenix found a book in his father’s home office called “Body Language” that
seemed far more interesting.
Phoenix started to read this book & would attempt to “read” people. There were a lot of
business meetings that went on with his father’s business, so he would watch the behavior
& gestures made by all attendees, & would watch for more subtle signs. Without even
knowing it, this would play a major part in his future.
As he grew older the study of human behavior was still fascinating, however it took a back
seat as high school, martial arts training, & for some time, dance, were the main factors within
his life.
Towards the end of high school Phoenix had made his way to represent Australia within the
martial arts & after this, was hired to perform using his acrobatic (from martial arts) & dance
abilities to perform as part of a cast on board cruise ships based out of Hong Kong & Singapore.
During this time he worked with a somewhat famed magician from Las Vegas, who guided him
in learning the basics.
Practicing day & night turned into performing day & night, his skills grew & soon he was trading
techniques with other magicians he worked with on ships from Alaska, Hawaii, through to Miami
& the Caribbean, building a stunning repertoire.
After 4 years of traveling & performing, Phoenix decided to return home to Australia & perform his
shows there. New shows were structured, other art forms studied, & his interested for psychology
was picked up once more.
After many, many corporate shows, TV appearances, & local cruises around the South Pacific, Phoenix
created & redesigned illusions & had his illusion builder, of whom is also David Copperfield’s illusion
builder, build these creations & have them shipped to Australia.
Phoenix was contact by the crew of XMEN Origins: Wolverine & was contracted to be the official
consultant for any sleights within the film, & was responsible for training actor Taylor Kitsch, who
played the role of Gambit, in card work.
Shortly after this, Phoenix went to Las Vegas to meet with other top magicians, illusionists & mentalists,
& whilst studying & learning more there, he refined his knowledge of hypnosis, suggestion, & rapid
inductions. He also received a 100% score rating in an exam on micro expression reading created by
master body language expert & micro expression professional, Dr Paul Ekman, of which, the famous
TV show “Lie to Me” is based upon.
The following year Phoenix perform his water tank escape on TV show, Australia’s Got Talent as
1.3 million viewers watched. The illusion was such a jaw dropper, it had all three judges & the entire
audience standing to applaud, the ONLY act in the heats to do this. Phoenix followed this act with a
combination of adagio & illusion in the semi final of the show.
Phoenix then returned once more to his in depth study of psychology & human behavior, combining
these facets of mentalism with illusion, his studies of psychology, hypnosis, & body language reading
to create his unique masterpiece, his mentalist show.
Phoenix has since been performing around the South Pacific with this show, on Australian TV,
New Zealand TV, Radio, Cruise Ships, corporate shows, & a variety of other venues.
