With the introduction of certain recent television shows, such as "The Mentalist" & "Lie to Me", the world has opened its eyes (& expressions) to the presence of mentalists & their art form.

Mentalism was the first form of "Magic" ever trained in by Phoenix - as an 8 year old child Phoenix stumbled across body language books & took up a certain interest. Years later this interest spilled over into other areas of magic, such as Grand Illusion & of course, the combination of Comedy & Magic.
Reading behavior patterns, such as muscle, facial, & body language patterns is still one of Phoenix's favourite skills, along with hypno, predictions, & other facets of the Mental Magic field.

Human lie detection, predictions, & psychology come together in this show to an extreme level, so much so that The Charlatan will risk putting a steel spike through his hand..

Mentalist Phoenix performs his daring steel spike routine, slamming his hand down on paper bags, hoping to avoiid the one bag with a steel spike, all by reading the expressions of the host.

Phoenix's unbelievable psychological masterpiece mentalist show with an unusual finish, his jaw dropping "Water Tank Escape" (as seen on Australia's Got Talent 09 where he received a standing ovation by both the judges & the audience). Escapes are unusual for a Mentalist, but this escape requires pure control of one’s own mind & heart rate. An exciting end to an incredible show! Mentalist: The Charlatan- Stage Mentalism Show
Phoenix uses micro-expression training, psychological tricks, body language reading, & lie detection to divine thoughts an audience member is merely thinking of, to predict & influence spectator’s thoughts & abilities, create premonitions & predictions, & to save his own hand from being spiked by a steel spike.
